TMC MP Mahua Moitra lodges complaint with Lokpal against SEBI chief.
TMC MP Mahua Moitra has lodged a complaint with the Lokpal against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, accusing her of potentially compromising national interests through quid pro quo arrangements.
On Friday, TMC MP Mahua Moitra filed a complaint with the Lokpal against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, accusing her of "quid pro quo arrangements that could endanger national interests."
Moitra announced on X that her complaint had been submitted both electronically and in physical form. She stressed that the Lokpal should, within 30 days, refer the matter to the CBI or ED for a preliminary investigation, followed by a full FIR inquiry. "Every involved party must be summoned and every connection thoroughly investigated," she wrote.

In her three-page letter, Moitra emphasized the need for an investigation due to the significance of the issue for national interests and the millions of investors affected.
In August, Hindenburg Research, a US short-seller, alleged that SEBI's reluctance to take action against the Adani Group might be linked to Buch's investments in offshore funds connected to the conglomerate. SEBI's head dismissed these claims as "baseless," and the Adani Group stated that it had no commercial dealings with Buch.
Hindenburg's allegations include claims that Buch and her husband had undisclosed investments in obscure offshore funds in Bermuda and Mauritius, which were supposedly used by Vinod Adani, the elder brother of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, to manipulate stock prices.
Previously, the TMC had called for the suspension of the SEBI chairperson.
