Toyota Kirloskar Motor's ₹21,000 crore electric vehicle facility is set to generate 26,000 jobs in Maharashtra.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been allocated 827 acres for a new manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, following a July agreement to establish a greenfield facility for electric and hybrid vehicles.
On Monday, an official announced that Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been allocated 827 acres of land for a new manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. On July 31, TKM signed an agreement with the state government to establish a greenfield facility for electric and hybrid vehicles. "A greenfield smart industrial city has been developed through a partnership between the Central and Maharashtra governments, facilitated by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) called Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL). The Shendta and Bidkin nodes are currently under development," the official from the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) told PTI.
This initiative is already attracting investments, with the 827 acres being allocated today to Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited in the Bidkin node of this industrial city.
"The company will invest ₹21,000 crore in this manufacturing plant. Work will begin soon, with production anticipated to start in January 2026. This project is expected to create 8,000 direct jobs and 18,000 indirect jobs," the official added.
