Dehradun Accident: 6 Students Dead; Police Yet to File Complaints, Seek Legal Guidance.
Six students were killed in a truck collision in Dehradun, with another in critical condition. Police are awaiting a formal complaint from the families before registering a case.
Nearly 24 hours after six students lost their lives in a truck collision in Dehradun, their families have yet to file a complaint with the police, which is required before authorities can take formal action, The Times of India reported.
The tragic incident occurred around 1:30 am at ONGC Chowk, when the car the students were traveling in collided with a truck. The impact left the car severely damaged, and all six students were declared dead at the scene. Another student is reported to be in critical condition.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, currently visiting Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag, expressed his condolences, calling the deaths "heart-rending." He added, "I pray to God to grant the departed souls peace and strength to the grieving families to endure this immense pain."
The deceased were identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20), and Guneet (19), all of whom were from Dehradun, except Kukreja, who was from Himachal Pradesh. The seventh occupant, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), remains in critical condition at Synergy Hospital in the city.
Inspector KC Bhatt of the Cantt police station stated that they are awaiting a formal complaint from the families before a case can be registered. "We have not received any complaint from the victims' families that would necessitate the registration of a case," he said, according to the TOI report.
