The new Stellantis multi-energy platform offers an electrified range of 1,100 km and a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) range of 800 km.
Stellantis introduces the STLA Frame platform, a BEV-native, multi-energy platform designed for full-size body-on-frame pickup trucks and SUVs.
Stellantis has introduced the STLA Frame platform, a BEV-native, multi-energy platform designed for full-size body-on-frame pickup trucks and SUVs, a key segment in North America and select global markets.
Owners of full-size trucks and SUVs demand uncompromising power, durability, and prioritize performance, capability, and practicality. The STLA Frame platform is engineered to meet these needs, offering a class-leading range of up to 690 miles (1,100 kilometers) with the REEV configuration and 500 miles (800 kilometers) in BEV form. It also boasts a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds (6,350 kg) and a payload capacity of 2,700 pounds (1,224 kg). Additionally, the platform supports water fording up to 24 inches (610 mm), making it well-suited for tough environments and diverse use cases.
Designed to support Stellantis' full-size pickup trucks, light commercial vehicles, and SUVs, the STLA Frame platform will initially offer an advanced propulsion lineup, including both BEV and REEV configurations. It is also adaptable to future internal combustion, hybrid, and hydrogen propulsion systems.
The REEV system integrates a battery, front and rear electric drive modules (EDMs), an on-board generator, and an internal combustion engine. This setup enables drivers to tow or haul heavy loads over long distances without compromising range. The engine, which has no direct mechanical connection to the wheels, powers the EDMs and recharges the battery as necessary, ensuring extended range while benefiting from the torque provided by the electric motors for enhanced vehicle dynamics.
"Similar to our STLA Medium and STLA Large platforms, STLA Frame offers unparalleled range along with exceptional performance and capability, providing best-in-class towing, payload, and range for customers who need reliable and powerful trucks and SUVs," said Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis. "With full EV and extended-range EV options coming soon, we're offering 'no compromise' solutions for those hesitant to try their first electric vehicle. We're proud of this engineering achievement and excited to showcase it in our upcoming Jeep and Ram products."
Innovative Design for Strength and Efficiency
The STLA Frame platform utilizes advanced, high-strength steel to enhance durability and rigidity while reducing weight. The reinforced center section houses the battery pack, with additional protection in case of side impacts. A full-length belly pan improves aerodynamics, helping maximize range while maintaining performance.
The platform is designed to accommodate liquid-cooled battery packs ranging from 159 to over 200 kilowatt-hours, supporting future energy storage technologies to ensure long-term adaptability.
The front and rear EDMs, each capable of up to 250 kW, provide all-wheel-drive capability, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Flexible suspension options, including air suspension, optimize the ride for different driving conditions and load scenarios.
Key STLA Frame Specifications:
Charging Flexibility and Bi-Directional Power
STLA Frame supports fast charging, with BEV configurations capable of 800-volt DC fast charging up to 350 kW, adding 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. REEVs can add up to 50 miles of range in 10 minutes using 400-volt DC fast charging at up to 175 kW.
The platform also offers bi-directional charging, allowing the vehicle’s battery to charge another EV, power a home in emergencies, or supply electricity back to the grid.
STLA Frame: Part of Stellantis' Global Platform Strategy
The STLA Frame is one of four global BEV platforms in Stellantis' Dare Forward 2030 strategy. Following the introduction of the STLA Medium in July 2023 and STLA Large in January 2024, these platforms will ensure Stellantis can meet the needs of customers across a broad range of electrification scenarios. All Stellantis platforms are designed for long lifecycles, with interchangeable components such as battery cell chemistry, EDMs, power inverters, and software control.
Stellantis is investing more than €50 billion in electrification through 2030 to achieve its ambitious goals, including 100% passenger car BEV sales in Europe and a 50% BEV sales mix for passenger cars and light-duty trucks in the U.S. by 2030.
