Honda accelerates its electric journey with the launch of ACTIVA e and QC1 electric scooters in India.

On Wednesday, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) launched its first electric scooters, the ACTIVA e: and QC1, at an event in Bengaluru, marking the company's official entry into India's rapidly growing electric vehicle market. Pre-orders for both models will begin on January 1, 2025, with deliveries expected to start in February 2025. While pricing details have not yet been disclosed, Honda is anticipated to reveal them in the coming weeks.

Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President, and CEO of HMSI, stated, "The launch of the ACTIVA e: and QC1 is a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable mobility in India. It aligns with Honda's global ‘Triple Action to ZERO’ initiative, which aims for carbon neutrality by 2050 through a focus on carbon neutrality, clean energy, and resource circulation."

The ACTIVA e: features a modular battery system, allowing for easy replacement, with capacity for two 1.5 kWh batteries, offering a range of 102 km on a full charge. It boasts a top speed of 80 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Riders can choose from three performance modes—Econ, Standard, and Sport—each offering different levels of performance and mileage. The ACTIVA e: is also supported by Honda's Power Pack Exchanger e: (BeX) battery swapping stations, which are currently operational in Bengaluru and Delhi, with plans to expand to Mumbai soon.

Meanwhile, the Honda QC1 comes with a fixed 1.5 kWh battery, providing a range of 80 km per charge. It includes a 330-watt off-board home charger with auto-cut technology, allowing the scooter to charge from 0 to 80 percent in 4.5 hours, and fully charge in 6.8 hours. The QC1 also offers two ride modes—Standard and Econ.

Both models are manufactured at HMSI's Narsapura plant near Bengaluru and come with a three-year or 50,000 km warranty, along with three free services during the first year of ownership.
