Details Inside: Indian Graduates Now Qualify for Australia's Temporary Graduate Visa

Following the announcement of Australia's updated migration policy, the Australian High Commissioner underscored the country's dedication to honouring the commitments established in the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA). This development ensures that Indian graduates meet the eligibility criteria for a Temporary Graduate Visa following the stipulations outlined in the AI-ECTA.

Under this agreement, Indian graduates with a bachelor's degree can remain in Australia on the Temporary Graduate Visa for two years, while those completing a master's degree are entitled to a three-year visa. Additionally, individuals who complete a PhD will be granted a four-year Temporary Graduate Visa.

During a media address, Philip Green, Australia's High Commissioner to India, expressed optimism about the ongoing growth of Indian student enrollment in Australia. He affirmed that the commitments established in the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA) would persist under the new Migration Strategy.

Green stated, "Under the new Migration Strategy, commitments agreed upon between India and Australia in the AI-ECTA will be honoured. This means that Indian graduates will retain eligibility for a Temporary Graduate Visa for two years for a bachelor's degree, three years for the completion of a Master's degree, and four years for the completion of a PhD."

Highlighting the Australian government's commitment to welcoming high-calibre students seeking educational opportunities, the High Commissioner asserted, "The Government will continue to embrace high-quality students pursuing educational opportunities in Australia. I anticipate that Indian student numbers will continue to grow."

Australia's Department of Home Affairs has announced a comprehensive strategy for its migration system. Released on Monday, the Government's Migration Strategy presents a new vision for Australia's migration system, encompassing eight key actions, over 25 policy commitments, and areas for future reform. This strategy reflects extensive consultation with businesses, unions, and various stakeholders, with over 450 submissions received during the Review of the Migration System.
