On Wednesday, the Delhi Police apprehended four individuals following a chaotic incident in the Lok Sabha. Two unidentified persons were detained for jumping into the Lok Sabha chamber during the ongoing Winter Session. Additionally, two other individuals, a man and a woman, were detained outside Parliament for protesting with coloured smoke. The security breach occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack carried out by terrorists from the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed outfits, resulting in nine fatalities. The detained individuals from inside the Lok Sabha were identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D. The MPs described scenes of chaos and panic, with the two individuals shouting slogans and spraying gas. Outside Parliament, Amol Shinde and Neelam were arrested for their protest. The Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, confirmed the arrest of the intruders and the seizure of materials, mentioning that the smoke was of an ordinary kind according to preliminary investigations. The incident coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, where terrorists targeted the Parliament complex, leading to the loss of nine lives, including eight security personnel.
