India and Russia signed crucial agreements for the construction of future units of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced the significant agreements during his visit to Russia. He emphasized Russia's status as a "special partner" in defence, nuclear power, and space collaborations. The Kudankulam nuclear power plant, developed with Russian technical assistance, plays a pivotal role in the India-Russia collaboration. Additionally, negotiations for a free trade agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Zone are set to begin with in-person meetings scheduled by the end of January.
