On January 4, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, accompanied by key colleagues, participated in a crucial meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at North Block, New Delhi. This high-profile gathering, which included Sikkim Legislative Assembly Speaker Arun Upreti and Cabinet Ministers Kunga Nima Lepcha, Sonam Lama, Bedu Singh Panth, Mingma Norbu Sherpa, and Bhim Hang Limboo, was convened to address critical issues affecting the state.
Chief Minister Tamang briefed Union Home Minister Shah on the pressing challenges confronting Sikkim. The focal points of discussion encompassed the request for Tribal status for 12 overlooked communities in Sikkim, the reservation of seats for the Limboo-Tamang Community in the State Legislative Assembly, and the upcoming visit of His Holiness Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, to Sikkim. Chief Minister Tamang underscored the urgency of resolving these longstanding issues for the overall well-being of the people of Sikkim.
