Britney Spears declares that she has no intention of making a comeback to the music industry.
Britney Spears dismissed rumors about her intention to release a new album and disclosed her career as a ghostwriter.
Britney Spears refuted rumours of a potential new album in a candid Instagram post, emphatically declaring her lack of plans for a music industry comeback.
On January 4, Britney took to Instagram, stating, "Let's set things straight – most of the news is unreliable!!! They keep suggesting I'm collaborating on a new album with random people... I have no intentions of returning to the music industry!!! When I write, it's either for my enjoyment or for others!!! For those who've delved into my book, there's much more about me that remains undisclosed."
Britney dismissed speculations about her involvement in creating songs for a new album and unveiled her role behind the scenes as a ghostwriter for others. She expressed, "When I write, it's either for my enjoyment or for others…I've crafted over 20 songs for various artists in the past two years!!! I operate as a ghostwriter, and I genuinely derive satisfaction from that position."
The pop sensation seemed to address recent Wednesday reports hinting at Britney Spears working on a new, undisclosed album, possibly with Charli XCX and writer Julia Michaels. Variety covered this possibility, highlighting Michaels' past collaboration with Spears on 'Slumber Party' from the 'Glory' album.
Spears then identified herself as a 'ghostwriter,' signifying her role in crafting songs for other artists without attaching her name to the projects, stating that she "honestly [prefers] it that way."
She also addressed allegations that her book, 'The Woman in Me,' was published without her consent. Despite these claims, the book soared to national best-seller status in its first week, with over 1.1 million copies sold across print, pre-sales, e-books, and audiobooks.
