Sena workers clash with residents in Panvel

In Panvel's Kutchi Mohalla, security was heightened following a clash between residents and Shiv Sena workers from Kharghar. The altercation unfolded around 3 pm when approximately 60 vehicles entered the neighbourhood, part of a rally organized by Shiv Sena workers. The group, shouting slogans, raised tensions in the Muslim-dominated area. Residents expressed concern, stating that the rally felt like a provocation rather than a celebratory event. The clash ensued from arguments between the two groups.

A resident of Kutchi Mohalla remarked, "We have no problem with people celebrating their happiness. But this didn’t sound like a celebration – it seemed like a provocation to hurt the sentiments of others. The men in the rally were not even from Panvel and had no business in our area."

Following the clash, three men who claimed injuries visited the sub-district hospital for treatment, accompanied by a large crowd. The injured individuals were identified as Ankit Giriraj Tiwari (21), Sandeep Thakur (30), and Chinmay Sonawane (30). Dr. Madhukar Panchal, providing preliminary treatment, stated, "The men had minor injuries on their back, hand, and head. We provided preliminary treatment and asked them to visit the Vashi General Hospital."

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Rajput mentioned that the police team had gone to record statements from both parties and had not filed any case yet. Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Dahane (zone II) characterized the clash as minor, stating, "It was a minor clash and was sorted out. We will file a case soon." Security measures were increased in the area in response to the incident.
