Delhi HC dismisses plea seeking removal of Kejriwal as Chief Minister.
Arvind Kejriwal faces court amid alleged scandal. Delhi HC rejects removal plea. AAP risks crisis.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and national convener of AAP, appeared before Rose Avenue Court today upon the conclusion of his custodial remand by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). His presence in court on Thursday has generated significant interest, particularly after his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, hinted at a forthcoming revelation regarding an alleged liquor policy scandal. Both Atishi and Sunita, Kejriwal's wife, were present in the courtroom during his remand hearing.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court rejected a petition seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal from his position as Chief Minister of Delhi, asserting that judicial intervention in the matter is unwarranted. The bench emphasized that the resolution of such issues falls under the purview of other branches of the government and clarified that the court refrained from commenting on the case's merits. Earlier, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to entice AAP MLAs with monetary incentives, enhanced security, and even parliamentary seats.
The future of AAP hinges on the outcome of Kejriwal's legal battles. If relief is not granted to him expeditiously, the party may confront an existential crisis. Kejriwal's unique appeal within the party is irreplaceable in the short term, posing a significant challenge. Such a scenario could potentially sway voters, especially in states like Punjab, towards the Congress party.
