Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie will be honored with the TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media for her significant contributions to both cinema and humanitarian efforts at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, according to Variety. The award will be presented on September 8 during the TIFF fundraiser and is meant to acknowledge achievements in film and social impact. Past recipients include Pedro Almodóvar, Mira Nair, and Alanis Obomsawin.

Jolie will be celebrated alongside other distinguished figures such as Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clément Ducol and Camille, Jharrel Jerome, Mike Leigh, and Zhao Tao. Sandra Oh will serve as the Honorary Chair for the gala.

TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey praised Jolie's multifaceted career, stating, “Angelina Jolie has captivated audiences for decades and continually uses her platform to advocate for vital causes. We are thrilled to present her with the 2024 TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media, recognizing her outstanding achievements in filmmaking and her steadfast commitment to positive change, underscoring her role as a leading humanitarian and influential global figure.”

Additionally, Jolie's latest film, Without Blood, will have its world premiere at the festival. Written, directed, and produced by Jolie, this war drama is based on Alessandro Baricco's novel and tells the story of a girl's pursuit of revenge and healing amidst conflict. The film features Salma Hayek Pinault and Demián Bichir in the lead roles.

Jolie's appearance at the festival will mark her return to TIFF following the success of her previous films, First They Killed My Father and The Breadwinner, both of which were featured at TIFF in 2017.
