PM Modi pledges aid and assigns Sitharaman to assess Tamil Nadu floods.

On Sunday (Dec 24), Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured support to flood-hit Tamil Nadu and assigned Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to assess the situation. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed gratitude on his official account, stating that PM Modi inquired about the floods post-Cyclone Michaung.

Stalin briefed the PM on the state's extensive rescue efforts despite resource constraints and requested immediate financial aid. In response, PM Modi pledged full support and delegated FM Sitharaman for on-site evaluation.

The aftermath of Cyclone Michaung has caused widespread destruction and flooding in Tamil Nadu, claiming 35 lives. Rescue operations are complete, with the focus now on restoring basic services. However, communication lines and infrastructure remain disrupted in some districts due to persistent rainfall.
